On Wednesday 6th March 2019, the Joint Committee on Human Rights held an evidence session to examine how children are affected, both long term and short term, by the imprisonment of their mother and what it is like for women to be pregnant in prison.
As part of this evidence session, Dr Laura Abbott and Naomi Delap took part in a panel looking at the issues surrounding pregnancy and maternity for women in prison.
