The women work with help inform every aspect of our work

The women we support at Birth Companions are at the heart of everything we do. They play a central role in the design and delivery of our services, our research and influencing work.

The principles of co-production work hand-in-hand with our focus on trauma-informed practice so we can make sure that every service we provide, every piece of research we undertake, and every change we call for, is rooted in what the women we support think, feel, want, and need.

With the help and insight of our Lived Experience Team, our peer-researchers and our peer-supporters, and through regular monitoring, we maintain an organisation built on equality, diversity, accessibility and reciprocity.

From this foundation we are also able to help others realise the benefits of meaningful co-production, as we support women with lived experience to share their stories and ideas with those in positions of power and influence.
