Supporting women in prison and the community

"Having my baby was one of the most important moments of my life and someone there telling me I was strong and I could do it, helped me to keep going. Every woman needs that kind of support.”

Having a baby is a very important time in a woman's life. We know that it can also be extremely challenging. We understand that women do not want to be defined by their situations; they just want to feel like an ordinary pregnant woman or new mum.

We offer support that is non-judgemental, trauma-informed and flexible. When we meet a woman for the first time, we focus on finding out what she needs and giving her as much choice as possible. All our support is provided by experienced staff and volunteers.

If you know someone who could benefit from our services, or if you would like to access our support yourself, please fill in a referral form or get in touch.

We have used the words ‘woman’ and ‘mother’ on this website, but we recognise that not everyone who is pregnant or has recently given birth identifies as a woman or mother. Our services are for anyone who is pregnant or has recently given birth, whatever your gender identity or how you choose to express your gender.

Birth Companions is registered in England and Wales under charity number 1120934 at Dalton House, 60 Windsor Avenue, London SW19 2RR. We use cookies to improve your experience using this website.
