"When I gave birth to my son the support I had from Birth Companions was amazing.  They really were my voice when I was in the hospital when it came to the officers and nurses"

Birth support

In HMP Bronzefield and HMP Peterborough our volunteers can support women when they go to hospital to give birth, offering emotional and practical support, and advocating for women with hospital and prison staff.

Supporting women through separation

Support for women who have separated from a baby is an important part of our work in all three prisons but especially in HMP Foston Hall. This prison does not have a Mother and Baby Unit and all the women who are in the prison after giving birth will be separated from their babies. As well as offering emotional support through this incredibly difficult time, we can also help women who wish to express their breastmilk for their baby.

Birth Companions is registered in England and Wales under charity number 1120934 at Dalton House, 60 Windsor Avenue, London SW19 2RR. We use cookies to improve your experience using this website.
