Prison Mother and Baby Units

This is a discussion paper looking at existing policy on pregnant women and very young babies who are in prison and addresses whether more could be done to improve the life chances of this vulnerable group of babies.

This document is aimed at:

• Policy makers responsible for developing policy on women’s prisons
• Politicians and parliamentarians with an interest in prison reform
• Members of the judiciary
