Birth Companions facilitates a bi-monthly group called HEAL (Hearing Everyone At Last) for women serving prison sentences at HMP Eastwood Park who are separated from their babies. This group is optional for women and has been co-designed with them to ensure we are providing what they want and need. The group is flexible in order to meet the needs of the women attending and the size of the group may vary.
We are looking for someone with a real commitment to supporting women during the perinatal period in a trauma-informed way, who understands the barriers women face in the criminal justice system and brings knowledge of pregnancy, birth, postnatal health or parenting. You'll have experience facilitating groups with women, communicate clearly, listen well, and work in a non-judgmental way while holding good boundaries and confidentiality.
A solid understanding of safeguarding, cultural competency and anti-discriminatory practice matters to us, as does a shared commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and to the work of Birth Companions.
You'll be open to ongoing training and supervision, available on Thursdays, and able to travel to HMP Eastwood Park within about an hour.
Applications close 5pm on Wednesday 24 June 2026
