Welcoming Tanya Tracey as our new Director of Services

We are delighted to announce that Tanya Tracey, previously our Criminal Justice Services Manager, has this month taken on the role of Director of Services.

After an extraordinary 30 years with Birth Companions, Denise Marshall is retiring, and we couldn’t be more pleased that she can pass the baton on to our incredible Tanya.

Denise has commented:

"Working with Birth Companions for almost 30 years has been an incredible journey for me, meeting such inspiring women and learning so much! I'm so glad that Tanya will be taking over from me, and I hope to stay connected with this amazing work."

As Director of Services, Tanya will be taking a strategic lead, overseeing all our support for pregnant women and mothers of infants in prisons and in the community, and supporting our growing team of staff and volunteers who do this incredible work.

Reflecting on her new role, Tanya says:

“Taking over from Denise as Birth Companions’ Director of Services is a very special moment for me. Denise’s support when I was pregnant with my first son - as a young mother, and at a time when I didn’t have anyone around me to offer me that care - was one of the most warming things I have experienced. Acts of kindness like that are never forgotten.

I am so pleased to continue my work with Birth Companions in this new role. After many years of working with incredible organisations across frontline and management roles, I feel ready to take on a more strategic leadership role. I am really looking forward to working alongside an inspiring senior leadership team and an incredible CEO. Personally, this step means a great deal to me and I am immensely proud to be moving into a role I once didn’t believe was possible.
